James Moffat sets the pace at AWC Race Tasmania

24 February 2023
Valvoline LMCT+ GRM driver James Moffat has led a Garry Rogers Motorsport lockout of the top four positions in opening practice from the first round of Supercheap Auto National Trans Am at Symmons Plains. Moffat clocked a 54.265s lap to lead Owen Kelly by 0.202s as Edan Thornburrow and Lochie Dalton followed less than half a second behind the fastest laps. All American Driveline’s Ben Grice was fifth in his Ford Mustang, just 0.421s behind the lead GRM entry ahead of Pioneer DJ’s Elliot Barbour in the first Chevrolet Camaro and The Racing Academy’s Tim Slade, making a cameo appearance this weekend. The TPS Group/Breeze Holiday Parks Chevrolet Camaro of Brett Holdsworth was eighth ahead of series debutant Tyler Everingham in the first Dream Racing Australia entry, which was immediately followed by teammate Adam Garwood in the squad’s Dodge Challenger to round out the 10. Just missing out on a top 10 berth was Tom Hayman, Jaylyn Robotham, Jett Johnson and Cody Gillis. John Holinger led the way in Masters Cup from Mark Crutcher and Craig Scutella. The second and final practice session for Supercheap Auto National Trans Am is at 4pm AEDT. Results:
