Stacked Turtle Wax Trans Am Series field ready to take on the Island

16 March 2022

A large field will feature in Turtle Wax Trans Am Series at Phillip Island this weekend with 27 ready to contest the three races at Round 2.

Following on from the opening round of the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series at AWC Race Tasmania, Wall Racing’s Tim Brook holds a slender two-point lead from reigning title holder Nathan Herne in the Garry Rogers Motorsport Ford Mustang.

Dream Racing Australia’s Kyle Gurton scored his maiden Turtle Wax Trans Am Series podium at Phillip Island last year, but signalled himself as a contender at AWC Race Tasmania by challenging Herne and Brook for race victory.

The depth of competition is further emphasised by rookies Lochie Dalton, Dalton Ellery, Jett Johnson and Jon McCorkindale, who each impressed across Round 1. However, experienced drivers Ben Grice, Nash Morris, Owen Kelly and Brett Holdsworth will be aiming to improve their results from Symmons Plains after difficult weekends.

Returnees to the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series at Phillip Island include Kobelco Racing’s Steve Coulter, Adam Hargraves, Jason Hassett, while Team Boley Racing’s Brock Boley makes his category debut.

The Turtle Wax Trans Am Series will contest three 13-lap races across this weekend’s Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships also featuring Supercheap Auto TCR Australia, S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship and Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia as part of a bumper program.
