Trans Am Rewarded with Motorsport Australia Superlicence Boost

The Motorsport Australia Superlicense will see a change-up to its points structure next year, with the Trico Trans Am Series receiving a boost following a boom in competition across 2024.
Drivers must accumulate 15 points to earn a Motorsport Australia Superlicense, with points awarded based on finishing positions in a wide variety of categories throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Under the new points structure the 2025 Trans Am champion will receive a big boost on their path to a Superlicence with 10 points, up from seven previously. Points awarded down to seventh in the series standings - scaling down from 10 to the winner, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 for seventh place.
The weighing sees Trans Am on equal footing with Supercheap Auto TCR Australia, Super3 and Porsche Sprint Challenge as some of the highest earning categories in the country, sitting behind only Super2 and Carrera Cup.
“This year we have simplified the Superlicence structure, with four clear tiers of racing categories based on their status in Australian motorsport, as well as their competitiveness at the various events,” Motorsport Australia CEO Sunil Vohra explained.
“When the Superlicence was reintroduced for 2024, we said it was our intention to constantly review and ensure the relevance of the categories and the points they receive. Working closely with Shane (Howard) and the team at Supercars, we are pleased to present the new points table for 2025.
“Motorsport Australia will continue to review the structure each year to ensure the right points are awarded to the categories and the drivers who compete.”
