Turtle Wax Trans Am Series to race into the night at SMSP

Forming part of a packed third event for the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships, Round 4 of the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series will for the first time race into the night at Sydney Motorsport Park. Following practice sessions conducted at last year’s corresponding event, the mighty V8-powered muscle cars will contest qualifying and its opening race under lights at Sydney Motorsport Park in a history making event. As part of a packed opening day schedule featuring two practice sessions and qualifying during the evening. The Turtle Wax Trans Am Series action begins with Practice 1 at 11:15am, which is followed by the second session at 3:00pm. Capping off the day is a spectacular qualifying session where the exhausts and brake discs are sure to glow under the Sydney Motorsport Park lights at 6:50pm. The opening race of Round 4 takes place at 3:15pm, before the second commences at 6:05pm into the night, which is sure to be an exciting spectacle. Turtle Wax Trans Am Series action concludes with the final race of the weekend at 3:30pm on Sunday. All races will be broadcast live and uninterrupted on Stan Sport. Currently Valvoline Team GRM Ford Mustang driver Nathan Herne holds a 19-point margin from similarly mounted Wall Racing’s Tim Brook following a clean-sweep last time out at Bathurst. Veterans Owen Kelly and Brett Holdsworth are also well in contention alongside young charger Kyle Gurton. Others to watch in Sydney will be Ben Grice, who returns to the scene of his first round podium last year, his teammate Nic Carroll, Lochie Dalton, Jon McCorkindale, Nash Morris, Jett Johnson and Elliot Barbour. The Turtle Wax Trans Am Series features as part of the third round of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships at Sydney Motorsport Park which is headlined by fellow Australian Racing Category the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series in addition to the S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship and Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters.
