GR Cup star subs for Supercars team owner

GR Cup front runner Pip Casabene will be a late entry in this weekend’s fifth round of the Trans Am Cup Series at The Bend Motorsport Park filling in for BRT Supercars team owner Tim Blanchard who is overseas in Germany on business.

18 year old Casabene, will drive the #10 Maverick Performance run Mustang this weekend in what will be his fourth weekend aboard TA2 machinery this year.

Casabene impressed earlier this year alongside Walkinshaw TWG Supercars driver Ryan Wood in the TA2 two driver enduro at Queensland Raceway and is eager to be amongst the front runners at Tailem Bend this weekend.

“It’s great to be coming back to the Trans Am Cup Series again this weekend at The Bend. I’ve done some laps here earlier in the year in a TA2, so I'm familiar with the west circuit and the cars.”

“I’m joining a new team this weekend with Maverick Performance. They have had some really strong results the last few rounds so I am really looking forward to working with them, can’t wait.”

Maverick team owner Gerard McLeod is eager to see just how far up the grid Casabene’s talents will project the young Victorian.

“Pip is a natural racer..... whether its Karts, GR Cup or Trans Am he’s got the gift behind the wheel. It’s only a matter of time before he’s a mainstay in the industry and we are stoked to be apart of his journey to the top.”

Casabene will be teaming up with former Walkinshaw and current BRT Super 2 race engineer Brian Cottee who will guide the youngster over the three races this weekend.
