Teleskivi graduates to Trans Am
GR Cup speedster Jenson Teleskivi will make his Trans Am Cup Series debut this weekend at Sandown Raceway driving for Melbourne based team Maverick Performance.
The 21 year old Melbourne sider will pilot the No.2 Maverick Mustang in what will be his first competitive run in a non-production based race car having only race experience in Hyundai Excels and GR Cup.
“I’m super excited for the weekend and thankful for Maverick Performance for giving me the opportunity.”
“Having the chance to drive a Trans Am car so early in my career will help me majorly improving as a driver.”
“The racing in Trans Am is always door to door to door so I can’t wait to get stuck in - learn as much as possible and be right at the pointy end.”
Teleskivi will have continued support from long time sponsors Hume Doors and Timber, Rapid Precast and ASAP Trading.
“I can’t thank Hume Doors Australia, ASAP Trading, and Rapid Precast enough for their support in getting me on the grid.”
Maverick team owner Gerard McLeod was immediately impressed with how quickly Teleskivi came to grips with the 525hp, heavy, LHD Trans Am at a recent Winton test day,
“Jenson was straight on the money and didn’t shy from driving such a big car compared to a GR Cup Toyota. He was very impressive.”
“These GR Cup kids are where its at.... We showed last round with Pip Casabene that the level of talent coming out of GR Cup is top shelf and Jenson is right in that category.”
